Why I At Times Find It Difficult To Work From Home, And The Things I Try To Try And Stop Myself From Being Distracted.
I have not long ago began a New career, and it is a job which allows me to work from home. I have always looked into New careers which would permit me to do this, so when the career came along, I jumped at the chance. It was one of the first Careers I have looked at in a long time that has really attracted me, and working from home seemed like such a good idea at the time. What I want to do here today in this article, is talk about some of the problems I have encountered trying to work from home, and how I have overcome them. I hope to give people a stronger idea of whether or not Careers working from home could be something that would work out for them, or if they the type of person who needs the type of social interactions that come from going to work on a regular basis.
My main problem with working from home is actually motivating myself to do the work. Now at this moment in time, it is made more difficult for me as I currently have my job working from home, but I am also running a boring 40 hour week day job as well. I really dislike my day job, which is partially why I wanted to start looking at New careers in the first place, to try and get myself a more interesting job than the one I currently have. However, it does of course mean that, once I get home from my normal job, I need to then start doing work for my second job. This can occasionally lead to it being hard to getting motivated, and it can seem like a lot of work to bring myself to begin working again, when it feels like I should be chilling out and doing something enjoyable with my time. My motivation here is that I really hate the day job, however, and typically this is enough to get me working and making sure I get sufficient work done so that I do not have to do much work on my free days.
However, sometimes I have difficulty even when I am motivated, and it comes in the form of interruptions from the internet. Now the work I do generally requires use of the internet, and sometimes I find it incredibly difficult to not just check this video on Youtube, or just go and have a nosey at who is doing what on Facebook, or perhaps I will just log on MSN and see who is online right now… At times it is rather challenging to stay focused on the job at hand, especially when you are in your own home, and it is a much more relaxed environment anyway. My advice here is to try not to contemplate the interruptions too much – set yourself little deadlines to stick to, and try and stick to them. It can be tough, but it does help me sometimes. I would say however, if you have trouble disciplining yourself, working from home might not be a great New career move for you.
