Putting The HP LaserJet P1006 Printer In Action

Taking the measure of the HP LaserJet P1006 printer is easy enough to do, and will quickly reveal a monochrome laser printer that comes to its user for an impressively low price. It will also deliver to its user good print speed and excellent print quality with the HP LaserJet P1006 toner, that is usually superior to competitor printers at its price point, which is around $125 new and in the box.

Given that this monochrome laser printer offers an array of features at such a good price, it’s hard to see how the typical small office and home office (SOHO) entrepreneur couldn’t help but be attracted by the P1006. For anybody operating on a tight, startup-type budget, it might be that this model could fill the bill so many businesses are looking to have filled (price-buster in a troubled economy).

Advertised speed of printing from HP says the printer will be able to produce about 17 ppm of nice-quality product. Again, for the price, this level of performance in monochrome printing is actually exceptional. Of course, the kind of print job sent to this device may cause printing to be faster or slower, depending on how graphics-rich or intensive the job will be.

It is also a very light printer, coming in at about 10 1/2 pounds and in a compact size to boot. This means it will fit nicely on any desktop or on the shelf next to a computer, where it can sit out of the way and humming along nicely.  HP seems to have designed this printer to do quite capably and ably under almost any print environment.

Print quality issuing forth from the LaserJet P1006 will be excellent at 1,200 by 1,200 dots per inch of resolution. In fact, most other printers against which this printer competes don’t usually come with such print resolution, offering instead 600 dots per inch. It delivers quality printing through use of an included HP image enhancement technology suite.

Connectivity is handled through use of a USB port, although there’s no included USB cable, so remember to pick one up before leaving the store. Given it’s low price, it really isn’t all that big a concern to spend a few more dollars on a basic cable. Once plugged into the computer, it will quickly begin to begin to set up the software and drivers needed to power the printer quite easily in fairly short order.

The printer supplies 8 MB of memory, though it will make good use of a computer’s own processing capabilities to handle most of its task work. It’ll do so fairly quickly with a 266 MHz processor that’ll keep things humming along smoothly and with no drama. It can also hold 160 sheets of paper, with 150 of those sitting in a single input tray and 10 in a custom input slot. It runs off most Windows-based OS, as well as a Mac operating system or two.

In terms of durability and reliability, the HP LaserJet P1006 printer also hits all its benchmarks. It has a 5,000 pages per month duty cycle, and it’ll be rare if more than standard or scheduled maintenance is needed. Taken all together, and when factoring in all the conveniences and features that are offered by this machine, (not to mention its low price), it’s sure to be attractive to those out there looking for a nice laser printer bargain.

The benefits offered by the HP LaserJet P1006 laser toner are just one additional selling point with this printer.  As to be expected, Hewlett-Packard sets the bar on what you will get with HP laser toner.  Quality and clarity are the main strong points with this ink and toner cartridges, along with eliminating costly reprints.
