The HP LaserJet 4050 printer package comes to a user with a number of pleasant surprises, it must be said. For one, it only lists for about $130, which is an impressive figure for a networked workgroup printer. As well, the LaserJet 4050 toner cartridges delivers fine-quality print resolution at 1200 dpi (dots per inch). Added altogether, it’s hard to see much to quibble over when it comes to a basic printer delivers such quality.

The LaserJet 4050 is what’s called a monochrome laser printer. This means that it’s basically a black-and-white printer. That it’s also a black-and-white printer that can put out product at 17 pages per minute is doubly impressive. For the price, one would expect to see, at most, 12 pages per minute but this particular Hewlett-Packard meets and beats that standard with ease.

This particular Hewlett-Packard is also light in weight, at only 40 pounds. As well, its physical dimensions come in at only 15 inches in width, 24 inches in depth and 13 inches in height. This means that the printer is a petite dynamo, for all intents and purposes. Most any IT specialist will find himself very pleased in its light weight and small stature.

In terms of how easy the 4050 is to connect to an existing network, most IT specialists will say that it won’t be difficult at all to do so. In fact, the 4050 comes with both wired and wireless technology, meaning it shouldn’t be much of an exercise to get the printer joined to a network in little time. Mainly it makes use of an Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX interface port, when it comes to ease of connection.

Maximum print resolution when it comes to this printer comes in at a fine 1,200 x 1,200 dots per inch (dpi). This is a high level of print quality from a unit that’s considered to be budget-priced by most experts who assess such models. The quality of the product that will be put out by the printer, in other words, will be extremely clear, sharp and crisp.

While not a slowpoke, the 4050 wouldn’t actually be considered a speed demon, either. Hewlett-Packard has included a 133 MHz processor to handle print tasks and it seems to be more than enough when it comes to the needs of just about any sort of workgroup. It’ll take on multiple tasks with little trouble and will deliver output with little trouble, in other words.

Memory included with the LaserJet 4050 is fairly standard for printer at this price point. With 16 MB of RAM to call on, small workgroups should see good performance. If more RAM is needed, the printer can be upgraded so that it makes use of a maximum of 200 MB. Lastly, the 4050 can hold 600 sheets of paper and it can print out on a number of different media stock, including transparencies, envelopes and plain paper.

Taken altogether, the 4050 printer is an impressive unit, when one considers that it’s also an extremely inexpensive unit. Able to deliver 17 pages of printed product per minute at a 1,200 dpi resolution, the toner cartridge refills ensures each page is crisp and sharp.  This printer should be able to hold its own when it comes to the needs of many a workgroup and the HP C4127A toner will give great results.  The low cost of toner cartridges is sure to be an attractant to a business on a budget, it must be said.
