The Belgium formula one race at spa-francorchamp is one of only four grand prix circuits that have been on the formula one calendar since the birth of the championship, the others are the street of Monaco, Monza and Silverstone. The spa-francorchamp circuit has been altered significantly over the 85 years that grand prix races have been held there, it was historically 9.3 miles long but in its current configuration it is only 4.4 miles long. Although the track is smaller now, it has retained some the best corners form the orginal circuit; all most all of the changes to the circuit have been to make it safer. The orginal circuit was so long that it was very difficult to have marshals all the way around the lap, this meet that typically the first person on the scene of an incident was a fellow driver. Also the lap was made up of public roads and therefore was not confined with crash barriers; it was not until 2000 that it became a full time race track.

One thing that has not changed thought out the years is the unpredictable nature of the weather around the spa-francorchamp circuit, this mainly due to its location with in the Ardennes hills of Belgium. Also the large woodlands that are around the track tend to trap in any water that has fallen on the track, that mean it can take a long time to dry off. This changeable weather can come in many forms, but at the time of year that grand prix is held it typically comes as rain. This precipitation can come out of no ware and soak the whole lap in seconds or just a couple of corners, making it difficult for even the best formula one drives to stay on the circuit.

These are also the reason that the circuit is love by spectators and drivers, it is also way you never get a boring race at the spa-francorchamp track as just when you thing nothing is going to happen they is a rain shower and everything gets turned around. If you are planning on going to the Belgium grand prix at spa-francorchamp track to see the race then they are something you should do to ensure you have a safe journey to and from the track.

To help ensure that the journey to and from the spa-francorchamp track is a safely one it is important to check that the car is in good condition, paying special a tension to the tyres and wiper blades on the car. The tyres and wiper blades are important for safe driving in wet weather which is likely in the Ardennes hills, tyre should be well over the 1.6 mm of minimum tread allow by law. If new tyres are required to meet this requirement, then it would be best to purchase a good wet weather tyre. The wiper blades should be in good working order also; if they are not then replacement wiper blades should be sources and fitted before setting off. If they is any small doubt about the wiper blades performance than purchase some replacement wiper blades as they are not costly. The best wiper blades to get are flat wiper blades this is because they offer superior raindrops clearing when compared to usual wiper blades. Also these flat wiper blades can reduce fuel consumption, which on the long motorway journey to the spa-francorchamp trackand back again could be significant.
