Whereas in the past, you needed fairly sophisticated skills to take quality photos, with these new cameras, almost everything is done for you. There are lots of people who don’t want to buy, or carry, a camera; so they just use the one that comes inside their cell phone. While a nice digital SLR camera is large in comparison, they still are made in different sizes, etc. You have to consider where you’ll be taking your camera and what your comfort level is regarding a certain size of camera. You’ll most likely buy from an offline store, maybe, and if so then think about the size and weight with regard to the amount of time you may have to carry it.

Check out some online user review sites for the skinny on the SLR you are interested in. Reviews will show you rating for different cameras, and a wide variety of experiences that consumers have had with them. Different feature performance, prices paid and models used can be found in these reviews if you take the time to look. You’ll want to trust those review forums that offer alot of reviews instead of just one or two.

There are some great and unique benefits of using a digital SLR camera, but be sure to know what you’re looking for and why you want one. Decide what kinds of features you think you’ll want to have, and then make sure the camera has them and not a lot that you don’t need. Your chances of being very happy with your camera purchase will increase with the more knowledge you gain.
